The status of women in Islam is
often interpreted in ways that are sexist and not true to the true teachings of
equality in the Qur’an Sharif and the model provided by Prophet Huzurpak
Sallallahu Alaihi Wa Sallam. Islam gave women rights over 1400+ Years ago which
they had never been granted before during the era of Jahiliyyat (ignorance)
Over 1400+ Years ago:-
-Islam and the Qur’an Sharif
declared women and men equal in creation.
-Islam gave women the right and
duty to obtain education.
-Islam condemned pre-Islamic
practices degrading and oppressing women.
-The right to express their
opinion and be heard.
-The same injunctions and
prohibitions of Islam equally apply to both sexes.
-Islam gave women the right of
inheritance and the right of individual independent ownership of a property
unhampered by anyone.
-Islam gave women the right to
accept, reject or negotiate a marriage proposal free from pressure.
-The right to obtain a divorce
from her husband on bad grounds. She can also gain custody of their children
after the divorce.
-Women were given the right to
work or trade to earn money if they so wished. Her earnings are her own to do
with as she chooses, as it is the duty of the Muslim man to provide all the
necessities for his family.
-As far as religious obligations
are concerned, a woman is to be considered not much different than a man with
regards to her responsibilities towards Great Allah Pak and has equality of
reward for equal deeds.
Status of Women In Din Islam |
The Body-Covering & (Hijab)–Veil
Muslim women wear Full length
Clothes & the Head-Covering (Hijab) veil that covers the face including the
eyes, in fulfillment of Great Allah Pak & His Apostle Huzurpak Sallallahu
Alaihi Wa Sallam's Decree to dress Modestly. From a Practical standpoint, it
serves to identify one as attempting to follow Quran Sharif & Sunnah Sharif
in daily life and, therefore, protects women from unwanted advances from men
like in Al Quran the Great Allah Pak Says: O Prophet! Sallallahu Alaihi Wa
Sallam, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to
bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more
suitable that they will be known and not to be abused. And Great Allah Pak is ever Forgiving and Most
Merciful. (Al Quran 33/59) So this type of modest dress up has been worn by
righteous women throughout history. Prominent more examples are traditional
catholic nuns and the Virgin Mariam Alaihas Salam, Mother of Isa Alaihis Salam.
The rule of dressing modestly also applies to men.
Note: The Hand & Leg Also Included The Order of Covering Body (Parda/Hijab) According to Islamic Law Through Socks.
